Pelo 29º ano, os GLAAD Media Awards distinguem o que de melhor e mais inclusivo tem sido feito na abordagem à comunidade LGBTQ em várias áreas da cultura pop.

Os mais recentes nomeados foram conhecidos esta sexta-feira, no Festival de Cinema de Sundance, nos EUA, e anunciados pelos atores Wilson Cruz, de "Star Trek: Discovery", e Trace Lysette, de "Transgender", duas das dezenas de séries televisivas destacadas nesta edição da iniciativa.

Entre as 141 nomeações contam-se filmes como "Chama-me Pelo Teu Nome", "A Forma da Água", "Lady Bird" ou "120 Batimentos por Minuto", mas o pequeno ecrã regista ainda mais escolhas, nas quais se incluem "Uma Família Muito Moderna", "Will & Grace", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", "The Handmaid's Tale", "This Is Us" ou "Sense8".

Concursos de talentos, talk shows ou documentários televisivos também são contemplados, numa lista da qual se destacam "The Voice", "RuPaul's Drag Race", "The Daily Show" ou "Gaycation", e pela primeira vez as escolhas contemplam ainda programas infantis e familiares.

Na música, concorrem Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, St. Vincent ou Perfume Genius, e nas mais de uma dezena de revistas de banda desenhada distinguidas encontram-se super-heróis da Marvel e da DC como Batwoman, Homem de Gelo (dos X-Men), Pantera Negra ou Miss America entre títulos mais alternativos.

Reportagens da The New York Times Magazine, Time ou Rolling Stone, mas também de canais televisivos como a CNN ou a HBO, figuram nas categorias dedicadas ao jornalismo do último ano.

Os vencedores da 29ª edição dos GLAAD Media Awards serão divulgados nas cerimónias de 12 de abril, em Los Angeles, e de 5 de maio, em Nova Iorque. Jay-Z vai ter direito a um reconhecimento especial pela canção "Smile" e respetivo videoclip, inspirado na forma como a mãe do músico, Gloria Carter, assumiu a homossexualidade.
